London Java Meetup - 16 June 2008

Listening to your ideas, I've incorporated a number of improvements into the
London Java Meetup this month.
- New Location - We'll start the evening in
Sun's Customer Briefing Centre which has
secure facilities for you to leave bags/laptops etc. These facilities will allow us the opportunity
to show cool demos and chat about any Java topic with laptops.
- New Pub - Once people get hungry or thirsty, we can retire to
The Monument Pub, round the back of the Sun offices,
for the rest of the evening
until closing time. Obviously you may want to skip the coherent chatter and go straight to the pub.
- New Dates - Due to popular demand, the Java Meetups will be held on the 'third Monday of every month'
This is because the pubs are much busier midweek, and so are the social lives of our regulars, who knew... :-)

After a brief hiatus, the London Java Meetups are back up and running.
From this month on, the meetups will be scheduled to occur on the
Third Wednesday of each month
i.e. (16 Jan 2008, 20 Feb 2008, 19 Mar 2008, ...)
This predictability will help most people make sure they are free
for that night, and hopefully build up the beer velocity for the group :-)

Now that Sun have offically open sourced the JDK, come down to the pub and discuss their choice of license (GPL2) and whether the classpath exception clause is enough to sit cleanly with other licenses (e.g. Apache).
